Each year the Detroit Jazz Festival Committee selects 6 high school jazz bands to perform at the world's largest free jazz festival held over Labor Day weekend in downtown Detroit. The Meridian Early College High School Jazz Ensemble has been one of the few selected to perform with this September marking the tenth time since 2012. This performance for several thousand Detroit Jazz Festival attendees was the culmination of months of hard work on the part of our student musicians. To perform alongside jazz professionals from across the globe was an experience not to be forgotten. Congratulations, Jazz Band! #ReachHigher

Congress did not renew this program, meaning we are returning to the free and reduced lunch program. All students will still get a free breakfast, but not lunches. We are asking all families to fill out a free and reduced lunch application whether you think you qualify or not. The portal for doing all things food service is now https://meridian.familyportal.cloud. Parents will register for an account and be able to fill out the free/reduced application, see what students are purchasing for lunch, add funds to lunch accounts (no longer on e-funds) and more.
