Congratulations to the following MECHS artists who were selected as regional winners of the Michigan Art Educators Association Art Competition; Natalie Borges, Joshua Cull, Mariah Gaskell, Brooklyn LaLicata, Brooklyn Mack, Addison Metzger, Angela Nichols, Bret Shaw, Allison Stewart, and Isabella Werner! The artwork is on display at the Grace A Dow Library Mezzanine Gallery through the end of the month, where a reception was held Wednesday evening to honor the artists. The art was adjudicated and five pieces from MECHS were selected to move on to the state level competition! The state level qualifiers are Joshua Cull, Mariah Gaskell, Brooklyn LaLicata, Brooklyn Mack, and Addison Metzger! The piece created by Joshua Cull was selected as Best of Show for the regional show! Congratulations to all of our MECHS artists! #ReachHigher!

Last night's cancelled girls basketball games at HOME vs Beaverton have been RESCHEDULED for Monday, 02/17, with the JV game starting at 6:00 pm followed by the varsity game.

Yesterday, students from the MECHS Principles of BioMedical Science class taught by Ms. Nosakowski, attended a field trip to the MyMichigan Health simulation lab where they were able to learn about, take, and assess vital signs on the simulator. One of our Creative Communications (Yearbook) students applied for, and received, press credentials to take photographs at a Central Michigan University men's basketball game. Seniors: Deadline for submissions of senior portraits for the yearbook is February 1, and that is this Saturday! On a related note, if you would like to submit a “baby” picture to be included you should use the same method. Deadline for submission of these photos is March 1, 2025.
There have been a lot of questions about senior quotes. This year, all approved quotes will be presented on one page, and a panel of students, advisors, and administrators will select the best quotes to share. Selection criteria will include space available, appropriateness of sentiment, and quality of concept. If you wish to have your quote considered for publication, please fill out the form in your advisory agenda. This form is due March 1 also. #ReachHigher #MeridianMustangs

Meridian continues to successfully cultivate a culture of engaging academics, dynamic teachers, and effective leaders that is focused on the well-being and success of each student. Our students and staff benefit from amazing family and community support where students are encouraged to learn, grow, and thrive.
Which recent district initiatives or achievements fill you with the most pride?
At the School Board meeting each month, Superintendent Glann and the administration team have showcased student achievement, in addition to adding a student representative to the Board. The accomplishments of all of our students are amazing and it is an honor to learn about some of their successes in person each month. The district has also been increasing recognition and communication of these successes though various methods as we continue to enhance school culture and celebration of student success.
What do you enjoy most about serving as a school board member for our community?
As a member of the Meridian Board of Education, I most enjoy serving our students. Each of our students has the opportunity to receive a quality education, access the resources to further their success, and meet and exceed the goals they set for themselves as they move forward to further contribute to the success of our community and beyond.
