Meridian Early College students and National Honor Society spent many hours volunteering with the Sanford Historical Society decorating the museum grounds for the Christmas season and helping out at the new Santa House! We love our partnership with the historical society. It's a win-win for both parties!

This week, our Freshmen participated in a presentation with local representatives to gain awareness and develop effective communication strategies for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder. At MECHS we strive to create a learning environment where all individuals are able to take risks, collaborate, and have ownership over their learning experience. #ReachHigher!
The Student Council Class of 2025 will be holding a can and bottle drive this week to help fundraise for this year's Snow Glow expenses, and next years Prom expenses. Donations can be brought to Mrs. Tuzas's room before and after school, as well as the main entrance of the High School today and tomorrow, between 4:30-6:30pm.

Thank you to everyone who donated blood on Monday for the NHS-Sponsored blood drive. Our goal was 17 units and we EXCEEDED that goal and collected 25 units! Our next drive will be on January 20th.
On Wednesday, November 9, MECHS participated in the Canstruction competition at the Midland Mall taking 3rd Place. This national sculpture building project, hosted by the Midland County Emergency Food Pantry Network, included 10 teams of students from across Midland County who sculpted, using canned food, that will be donated to area food banks. This years theme was animals. The sculptures can be viewed at the Midland Mall through Sunday at noon, and the public can vote for the coveted People's Choice Award for $1.00 per vote. #ReachHigher

Good luck to our qualifying runners who will be competing tomorrow in the MHSAA Division 3 Cross Country Finals at the Michigan International Speedway. The boys will run at 10:10 a.m. and the girls will run at 11:30 a.m. Tickets are $11 and purchased through GoFan.
MECHS Volleyball team is back in action this evening in the district final. Tickets must be purchased through GoFan. 7:00 p.m. at Beal City High School.
The National Honor Society will be hosting a Blood Drive on November 14th from 9:30AM-3:00PM. Students must be 16 years or older to participate. For a 16 year old, a parental consent form is required. All donors are required to show a photo ID. Please enter through the auditorium entrance for your appointment. At each step along their educational path, our students are encouraged to reach higher—expanding and developing their potential to succeed academically and in life. Today, the MECHS Class of 2023 was joined by advisors from MECHS, Delta, and Northwood to celebrate College Application Day. Students worked together to complete one college application, set up an FSA ID, and open a Parchment account. Thank you to Kelsi Jacobs, Meridian's College Advisor, for organizing the event!
