Meridian Public Schools Honors School Board Members for Annual Recognition Month
“In another year full of challenges for public education, our school board members persevered through the adversity of 2022 to provide the best possible education for our students,” said Interim Superintendent Sarah Glann. “Celebrating School Board Recognition Month is one of the very small ways to express appreciation for all they do. Too often, the efforts of school board members go unrecognized .”
Meridian Public School's Board of Education is composed of seven members:
Michael Bowen - President, 28 1/2 years of service, Stephen Grubaugh - Vice President, 6 years of service, Rebecca Hitsman - Treasurer, 11 years of service,
Dennis Cole - Secretary, 21 1/2 years of service, Kristina Brawt - Trustee, 3 1/2 years of service, Megan Clark - Trustee, 2 years of service, Janice Goodall - Term ended 12/31/2022 after 9 yrs of service, and Jennifer Holzinger - Newly Elected Trustee as of 1/01/2023
We thank you and appreciate you!

Good Evening Mustangs,
The FCC has created a national broadband map that displays where internet services are—and are not—available across the United States, as reported by Internet Service Providers (ISPs) in the FCC’s ongoing Broadband Data Collection. This map (https://broadbandmap.fcc.gov) will be used to help determine future broadband expansion efforts and billions in grant funding to close the digital divide. Please consider checking the accuracy at your home address, as well as neighbors, family, friends, etc. If you find any inaccuracies, you can submit a location challenge through the website before the January 13, 2023 deadline.
Thank you
Good Evening Mustangs,
The District has contracted with the Michigan Association of School Boards (MASB) to facilitate a search for the new superintendent at Meridian Public Schools. The District is gathering input through an on-line anonymous survey that will be conducted from December 19 through January 10. Survey link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/MPS_Supt
This information will be used to help develop criteria that our district feels we should have in a new superintendent. If there are questions regarding the survey, they can be directed to Dave Moore, MASB Consultant @ davemoore6282@gmail.com
Dear Meridian Elementary Mustang Families,
Last week we were so fortunate to be able to partner with ONECHURCH of Sanford, Adidas, the Meridian Elementary School PTO, and many local charitable givers - to outfit each student with a brand-new pair of Adidas socks and shoes. It was amazing! The looks on students’ faces and the comments they made were priceless. We are so thankful to receive this opportunity and to partner with all of you.
On Tuesday of this week we have a “Sounds of the Season” concert at the high school auditorium. The stars of this concert will be your very own Kindergarten and First grade students. A special thank you to Mr. Morey, our early-elementary music teacher, for putting this event together!
Parents, if you have a staff member at Meridian Elementary that you would like to give a note of appreciation to you can access a very quick form here, “Note of Appreciation” (https://tinyurl.com/4a978p8m) and we’ll send your message along on your behalf. We’ve shared your kind notes to 11 staff members thus far, and we’d be happy to send some more!
From our Meridian Elementary School family to yours, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Thankfulness to ONECHURCH of Sanford, @adidas, MES PTO, and many local charitable givers - all serving their mission so well today!
560 students treated with world-class individualized service while blessed with a brand-new pair of Adidas socks and shoes. Such Kindness!
Sharing Tree gifts are here!

Dear Meridian Families,
This message is intended to be a reminder for families that do parent pick-up after school. Today, November 1st, we are starting a new dismissal procedure. Our goal is to reduce congestion at the Kindergarten (south) exit and to create a more orderly dismissal process. We will ask the adults to pick up their child at their respective grade level sign. Please note: the kindergarten and first grade signs have shifted farther toward the south (toward the high school). If you have multiple children in different grade levels, please plan to meet at the lowest grade level sign first, and then travel to the higher grade level.
In our new procedure, students in third and fourth grade will be coming out of the building from our front doors, while the rest will exit the south end. You will also see some signage in a roped off area, indicating that space is only for staff and students. In an effort to be consistent, we will wait to release your child until we are at our grade level sign. If someone other than yourself is picking up your child, please let them know about this as well. This will help us have a more orderly dismissal experience. We really appreciate your assistance.
Sincerely,
Josh Hook
Principal

Hello Mustangs! As the start of the school year approaches, we have news to share with you from our Food Service Department. Please see the information below.
With the end of the 2021-2022 school year, also brought the end of the free meals for all students. Congress did not renew this program, meaning we are returning to the free and reduced lunch program. All students will still get a free breakfast, but not lunches. We are asking all families to fill out a free and reduced lunch application whether you think you qualify or not. The portal for doing all things food service is now https://meridian.familyportal.cloud. Parents will register for an account and be able to fill out the free/reduced application, see what students are purchasing for lunch, add funds to lunch accounts (no longer on e-funds) and more. Any questions can be sent to the food service department at foodservice@merps.org or 989-687-3212. Thank you. #ReachHigher
