17 students. 10 books. The battle has begun. This is the first battle during our Battle of the Books program for the 5th graders at the junior high! These students have read a total of 30 books all together during this last month in order to prepare for battling against other teams in Midland County. No matter if they win or lose, I am incredibly proud of the number of books they have read these past few weeks. Keep reading! #ReachHigher #MeridianMustangs

Today, MJHS held the second annual Veterans Day Assembly. Ms. Adam's ELA classes interviewed Veterans and recorded an excellent video sharing their stories. We hosted several Veterans from the community along with their families. MJHS would like to thank all those who have served. Mrs.Egan from Plastivan and the Society of Plastics Engineers presented in Mrs. Pashak's 6th and 7th grade science classes last week. Students were educated about the chemistry, history, processing, manufacturing, and sustainability of plastics and how the science and real-world applications relate to their everyday lives. Everyone enjoyed the activities and demonstrations she brought! #ReachHigher #MeridianMustangs

On Thursday, October 17th, Meridian hosted the Youth Impact Partnership Leadership Day, an initative with the Midland Area Community Foundation, in the MECHS Auditorium. The Midland Area Youth Impact Partnership’s mission is to promote the safety and wellbeing of all Midland County citizens by building empathy and kindness amongst youth, through awareness, education, and collaboration. Students collaborated on different topics, and planned their events for Kindness Week! Local Non-Profit organizations that service the youth in our area were present to showcase how they assist in our community.
